Our Commitment to Transparency
Transparency is a core value at Track Pitch. Rankings influence visibility, booking opportunities, and career growth for artists on the platform. That's why we believe you deserve to know exactly how they work.
The Ranking Signals
Rankings are calculated using a weighted composite of engagement signals. Here's what we measure and why.
Profile Engagement
Profile views, follower growth rate, and profile completeness. A complete profile with an EPK, linked streaming accounts, and regular activity scores higher than a bare-bones one.
Track Engagement
Likes, plays, saves, and shares on your uploaded tracks. We weight repeat engagement (someone who listens to your track multiple times) higher than one-time plays, because it signals genuine interest.
Event Activity
Shows played, RSVPs received, and attendance rates. Active performers who consistently draw crowds rank higher than dormant profiles.
External Signals
Spotify monthly listeners, social media follower counts, and press mentions. These provide context about your reach beyond the Track Pitch platform.
Fair Comparison
Each signal is normalized relative to profiles of the same type and location, so a jazz artist in Portland isn't compared against a hip-hop artist in Atlanta. This ensures fair, contextual rankings.
Ranking Scopes
You can view rankings at multiple levels: city-wide, genre-specific, and combined (e.g., "Hip-Hop in Brooklyn"). Each scope uses the same methodology but compares you only against relevant peers.
Anti-Gaming Protections
We take ranking integrity seriously. Our anti-gaming system includes:
- Velocity limits: Sudden spikes in followers or plays are dampened until verified as organic
- Bot detection: We flag suspicious interaction patterns like bulk follows from new accounts
- Reciprocal ring detection: Coordinated follow-for-follow or like-for-like schemes are identified and excluded
- Manual review triggers: Rapid rank changes flag profiles for human review
Update Frequency
Rankings update daily at midnight UTC. Changes are reflected on your analytics dashboard the next morning. We believe that surfacing this data helps artists make better career decisions and helps venues discover genuine talent.
